Our brushcalf leather is characterised by its silky and natural shine. When smooth leather is processed into brushcalf leather, the grain side of the hide is first rolled and then sanded, creamed with a wax paste and polished on hard brushes until the characteristic shine is created. Rolling makes the leather denser and harder than other types of leather. It has a very hard-wearing surface due to the closed pore structure. Brushcalf is also a good alternative to the much more care intensive patent leather.
